John Stiles
artist statement

My formal training began at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC where I received my Bachelors Degree in Communication Arts. My first professional job was as an airbrush artist while still a student. After graduating I became an artist in the screen-printing industry, working for 14 years. In 2009, I returned to school, earning my MFA in graphic design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2011.

After graduate school I taught high school and college classes as the Digital Media Instructor at Clark Advanced Learning Center in Stuart Florida. I also taught occasional classes as an Adjunct Professor at Indian River State College campuses throughout the Treasure Coast. Currently I am an Assistant Professor of Graphic design at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. I also do free-lance work for a myriad of different clients, and occasionally work as a caricature artist. When free time presents itself I do work of a more personal nature in a variety of different media.

As my portfolio reflects, I am adept at many disciplines, and styles, and am comfortable whether working in a simple graphic design or high-end illustration. While I have concentrated mostly on computer-aided design during my professional career, I enjoy working in a variety of mediums.
